DCFS Releases LifeInCheck App for EBT Clients

Wednesday August 19, 2020

Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) is the electronic system that allows qualifying recipients to receive government benefits. Louisiana uses a magnetic strip card known as the Louisiana Purchase Card. A mobile app was created for clients to manage their benefits in a more efficient and convenient way.

LifeInCheck EBT is the free smartphone app that provides Louisiana EBT cardholders with easy access to their EBT information.  The app allows users to check SNAP and cash account balances, view their next available deposit date and view transaction history. The app also allows users to request a card replacement if the EBT card is damaged, lost or stolen.

To download the app, search LifeInCheck EBT in the app store (Apple App Store for iOS devices and Google Play for Android Devices). To register, you must have an active SNAP account with the Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS). Once the app is downloaded, have information such as the EBT card number, social security number, date of birth ready to verify your account. All personal information will be kept confidential and secure according to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services website.

The LifeInCheck EBT app has new features coming soon that will provide easy ways to save money such as digital coupons, prescription discount cards and nutritional engagement tools.

If access to a smartphone is not available, some of the app’s features are available online at LifeInCheckEBT.com. Information can also be viewed through the DCFS CAFE Self-Service Portal. If you have any additional questions, visit the LifeInCheck EBT app FAQs here.
