Donor Advised Funds
You can use your donor-advised fund (DAF) to make a one-time or recurring gift. Having a DAF allows you to receive immediate tax benefits and give to charities of your choice over time.

Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Donating stock is a simple and tax efficient way to support our work. When you donate appreciated securities, you may receive significant tax benefits. Non-Cash Assets
A gift of artwork, antiques, or other personal property can be an excellent way to support the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. The tax benefits of the gift depend on whether the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank can use the property in a way that is related to its mission.
IRA Rollover/Qualified Charitable Distributions
If you are 70 ½ or older, you can transfer funds from your IRA directly to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. These gifts can also count towards satisfying required minimum distributions. We can provide the necessary documentation to your financial institution. Discuss all the options and potential tax benefits with your financial advisor to determine if giving through an IRA is a good fit.
Leave a Legacy
Planned Gifts are contributions typically made through an estate or trust as part of a bequest or other form of financial planning. You may also designate your favorite charity as a beneficiary of insurance policies, Friends of the Food Bank who have communicated to us that they are leaving a legacy gift are recognized as members of the Fraenkel Society – Feeding the Future.
Sample Language for Will or Trust:
“I give the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, a nonprofit corporation currently located 10600 S. Choctaw Dr. Baton Rouge, LA 70815, or its successor thereto, ___ (written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property) for its unrestricted use and purpose.”
