Oscar’s Pizza: Back for Restaurant Week Seconds
Although this is only the second time Oscar’s Pizza has participated in Restaurant Week, owners Elton and Randee Hyndman have been involved since the beginning. The Hyndmans also own Nino’s Italian, a four-time Restaurant Week veteran. Below, they discuss what Restaurant Week means to them and how Oscar’s is making its mark in Baton Rouge.
This is the second Restaurant Week for Oscar’s, but Nino’s has participated in every Restaurant Week. Each one eclipses the previous as the busiest week we’ve ever had. After the first two, we would have been foolish not to bring Oscar’s into the fold.
When choosing the menu, we wanted to highlight menu items we feel are our strongest and are unique to Oscar’s, while at the same time taking the opportunity to be creative and showcase some new items.
What we really wanted to do was highlight our most recent efforts to increase our charcuterie production. We are quite proud of our locally-sourced, in-house smoked bacon and Andouille, Italian sausage and Meatballs, all featuring locally sourced proteins.
Oscar’s is a single location restaurant unique to Baton Rouge. We feature a whole wheat sourdough pizza crust, homemade salad dressing without added sugar, locally sourced organic eggs used to make our own ice cream, and fresh pasta rolled daily.
There is no mistaking the impact Restaurant Week has on business. Not only is there a tangible, immediate increase during the week itself, but there are so many opportunities to turn new people on to what we’re doing. We see a lasting positive impact on repeat business.
Restaurant Week does an incredible job encouraging the community to go out and try new restaurants as well as encouraging the restaurant industry to try new menu items and create new relationships. It’s THE dining event in Baton Rouge and we wouldn’t miss it.
