Hunger Action Month Wrap-Up
The importance of this year’s Hunger Action Month was greater than expected with the landfall of Hurricane Ida on August 29, 2021. The fifth strongest to ever strike the United States, Hurricane Ida added yet more stress to families who were already experiencing food insecurity in the 11 parishes we serve.
During this annual month-long campaign, our friends at Home Bank matched donations so that the Food Bank could continue to serve more families in the month of September. Getting those meals to families could not have been possible without the dedication of volunteers who donated their time to sort and repack food into boxes of shelf stable food. The Louisiana National Guard who have been with the Food Bank since the beginning of COVID-19 played an integral role in mobile distributions throughout the Greater Baton Rouge area.
Just $1 can provide up to 3 meals to those impacted by food insecurity. Make your donation here.
