Meet the Team – Mark Walker
For over nine years, Mark Walker has worked with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, bringing enthusiasm and a wealth of experience along with seemingly limitless energy to his role. Starting his journey at the Food Bank, Mark has taken on various responsibilities during his tenure, including serving as the Volunteer Coordinator and working closely with our partner agencies. Today, he continues to lead as the Sort and Repack Captain, ensuring that the food bank volunteer efforts run smoothly and efficiently.
As Sort and Repack Captain, Mark oversees the process of checking and packing food products. His primary responsibility is to ensure that all food is handled safely and efficiently and prepared to be distributed to families in need.
Mark oversees the volunteer efforts in the Sort and Repack room. In this room, volunteers will sort through anything from non-perishable canned goods to fresh produce and pack boxes for our various feeding programs.
When asked about his favorite parts of the job, Mark quickly answers, “Everything!” Mark loves that his job gives him the opportunity to meet and work with new volunteers. Over the years, he has witnessed many volunteers grow and evolve, from young students starting in eighth grade to high school seniors and beyond.
The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank is fortunate to have staff members like Mark Walker as part of our team. His commitment and passion for our mission make a significant difference in the lives of the individuals we serve. We invite you to join us and consider volunteering alongside Mark to make a positive impact in our community.
