Hunger Action Month Kickoff
September is Hunger Action Month – a month where people all over America stand together with Feeding America and the nationwide network of food banks to fight hunger. It’s a month to spread the word and take action on the hunger crisis, and dedicate ourselves to a solution. Will you join us?
The purpose of Hunger Action Month is to inspire people to take action and to raise awareness to the facts: 41 million Americans struggle with food insecurity, 783,400 people are struggling with hunger in Louisiana and 258,630 of those people are children. In our 11-parish service area, nearly 16% of the population struggles with food insecurity.
This annual campaign brings attention to the reality of food insecurity in the United States and promotes ways for individuals across the U.S. to get involved in the movement to help end hunger. We are kicking off a email series this week, featuring real stories of hunger and the impact of our distribution programs throughout our 11-parish service area.
