BASF’s Commitment to Fighting Hunger
At the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, our mission is made possible by the support of our community. For over 10 years, BASF has been a long-standing partner of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank by providing donations ($25K/year) to support our programs. These funds help us acquire nutritious food and distribute meals to families in need.
BASF was the original company that expanded the Backpack Program to Ascension Parish. The Backpack program helps fill the void for children who are at risk of missing meals over the weekend and during holidays.
In 2023, BASF funded 4 mobile distributions in Ascension Parish. The Food Bank’s Mobile Distribution Program is a donor-funded program designed to distribute food in areas known as food deserts, geographic locations where a grocery store is not easily accessible for low-income or rural areas. These distributions are vital for individuals and seniors who often lack transportation and have a difficult time accessing enough food to have three meals a day.
Their support extends beyond financial donations with the company bringing interns every year to volunteer in our sort and repack room, where interns assist with separating donated food into categories and repacking boxes to be distributed.
“BASF is committed to being a good corporate citizen in the communities in which we operate,” says Brian Parker, Compliance Manager at BASF and Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank Board Member. “Through our decade-long work with the Food Bank, BASF has demonstrated our vision of valuing people above all else. We have seen firsthand how our financial and volunteer support of the Food Bank has improved the quality of life for those most vulnerable in our community.”
By giving their time and resources, BASF is making a difference in the community they operate in. We are grateful for BASF’s support and look forward to continuing this impactful partnership.
