REDSTOCK Summer Drive | June 1 – August 31
REDSTOCK is a summer umbrella campaign initiative, now in its fourth year, is focused on specifically inspiring the community to support the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank through either donating or hosting food drives and fundraisers under the REDSTOCK name. Every year the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank experiences a shortage of funds and food on the shelves during the summer when students are at home and not receiving free or reduced lunch through federal school programs. In addition, seniors are also hit particularly hard in the summer when they have less available finances for food due to elevated utility costs. This puts added pressure on the food supply needs of our member agencies serving the hungry on the front lines.
The REDSTOCK concept is designed to drive awareness of this issue and to inspire individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to take action by either donating or coordinating a REDSTOCK food drive or fundraiser for the Food Bank. The campaign runs from June 1 to August 31.
You can also get involved by participating in WAFB’s Check Out Hunger campaign with Baton Rouge Physical Therapy Lake. Just visit local area stores, and donate $1, $3 or $5 at the register. For more information, click here.
