Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank Receives Grant from Million Dollar Round Table Foundation

June 22, 2017 — The MDRT Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. The Food Bank serves more than 115 member agencies across 11 parishes. This donation of funds comes at a critical time as each year, the Food Bank experiences a shortage of funds and food during the summer when children are at home and do not have access to the free or reduced lunch program through local schools. In addition, seniors also face difficulty as they have less available finances for food due to elevated utility costs.

Through its global grants programs, the MDRT Foundation is committed to building stronger families and communities around the globe. This year, the MDRT Foundation will award over $1 million in MDRT member-endorsed grants to more than 200 charitable organizations worldwide.

Representing the MDRT Foundation, Michael P. Austin, CFP, presented this grant to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank on March 23, 2017.

“The funds from this grant will help us to serve the many seniors, families and individuals in need in our service area. With summer being a difficult time for many, we are grateful to receive the support from organizations like the MDRT foundation,” said Michael G. Manning, President and CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
